Company to showcase smart data discovery and AI-driven data catalog; helping enterprises turn “insights to action” ORLANDO, December 4, 2018 – Io-Tahoe, a pioneer in smart data discovery and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven data catalog products, announced its participation in Forrester’s first Data Strategy & Insights forum, beginning today in Orlando.
The Forrester forum is designed to help companies learn how to begin scaling their data efforts to focus on insights that matter, insights that will drive both incremental and transformational action for their business. During this forum, Forrester will focus on the “insights-driven enterprise,” capable of implementing digital insights strategically and at scale to drive growth and create differentiating experiences, products, and services.
In a recent report1, Forrester analyst, Michele Goetz, calls machine learning data catalogs (MLDCs) “The Stepping Stone For The Intelligent Business,” writing, “relying on people and manual processes to provision, manage, and govern data simply does not scale. Enterprises are waking up to this fact and turning to data catalogs to democratize access to data, enable tribal data knowledge to curate information, apply data policies, and activate all data for business value quickly.”
“Enterprises need data catalogs, to help their employees find the data they need and make better decisions,” said Rohit Mahajan, Io-Tahoe’s Chief Technology and Product Officer. “However, catalogs built manually by subject matter experts will always rely heavily on human knowledge and expertise. Although this approach may help initially, in the long-term, it will not lead to the success which the modern enterprise aspires. Mahajan added, “CDOs should consider machine learning data catalogs, and encourage crowd sourcing. This introduces a virtual data steward to radically and intelligently improve data governance practices, while reducing the demand on SMEs.”
Forum attendees will be able to view a demonstration of Io-Tahoe’s smart data discovery and AI-driven data catalog at Kiosk L. Io-Tahoe’s data catalog enables data and business professionals to easily create, maintain and search a business glossary of data sources and critical data relationships identified through Io-Tahoe’s automated relationship discovery. Population of the data catalog is automated by using artificial intelligence and leveraging the smart data discovery functionality and natural language analysis to automatically tag data. This automation facilitates smarter crowd sourcing allowing data owners, stewards and subject matter experts to define and govern multiple data rules.
Mahajan noted that Io-Tahoe’s capabilities are specifically designed to help companies meet the growing demand for discovering, tracking, and cataloging where data of all kinds resides, both the information that is commonly accessed as well as less-referenced, or even unknown, “dark data.”
